echtzeit Berlin

Filed under: Uncategorized — Björn Wilmsmann @ 6:05 pm

Yesterday, we attended the second echtzeit Berlin (check this page for pictures), which was organised by deutsche startups, the #1 German startup blog,  and SEEDKONTOR. The event was really great, we met lots of interesting people, Oliver Samwer of European Founders gave an update on the current state of the venture capital market and Sebastian Fiebiger of SOFTCLICK held a wonderful talk about why bootstrapping your startup often is better than acquiring venture capital.

Last not least, the beer was excellent 🙂

P.S.: I travelled home from Berlin by train. Travelling with Deutsche Bahn always is a decent pleasure:

Apart from the usual nuisances like delays, no power supply, no Internet connection on the train etc., the most annoying thing were the constant announcements via loudspeaker. At each station (and sometimes also in-between) they mentioned all of the train connections available there, advertised the food available in the train’s restaurant and best of all: They repeated all of the announcements in the worst kind of English I’ve ever heard.

Lesson 1: If you want to evoke the impression of being an international company at least try to do it properly and teach your employees proper English before having them make awkward announcements to your customers.
