Google has just added more bells and whistles to their notorious SearchWiki feature. Now SearchWiki sports a ‘Star Wars’-like sound effect when deleting an item from a search result list.
Google apparently is on the right track. Instead of improving boring stuff like the actual search algorithm and the resulting rankings they turn to more important things: 1.) Improving search results by having human evaluators do the work their once renowned PageRank algorithm doesn’t seem to capable of anymore. 2.) Adding nifty Web 2.0-ish effects so the users are so enamoured with the UI they don’t take care of the actual search results anymore.
